We’re working with South of Scotland Enterprise and the CivTech programme on the challenge of how to help people understand their energy needs and connect with local suppliers to address those needs.
ZUoS is helping the community development trust in Carluke to develop an energy club for sharing energy across different buildings. This includes an innovation collaboration with Scottish Power Energy Networks to unlock the community potential.
ZUoS Simulations was initially used to model Canna’s renewably powered private micro-grid to advise the island on how to continue decarbonising. Since then, ZUoS Operations has been monitoring island energy flows and trialling the use of excess renewable generation for domestic hot water.
26 for COP 26
June 2021 - November 2021
ZUoS has been selected as one of 26 climate innovators to participate in a 6 month program from Greenbackers Investment Capital to help promising cleantech start-ups secure investment from international investors.

Power Forward Challenge
Match 2019 - September 2021
The Power Forward Challenge is an international collaboration between the UK and Canada to design the energy system of the future. The ZUoS consortium secured SME support to help prepare a proposal to this call, which provided the resources to enable us to prepare a winning proposal, helped in no small part by Cloud ZUoS presenting the winning pitch at the Rushlight Summer Showcase (June 2019).

Unreasonable partnered with the Shell Startup Engine UK in delivering this intensive 4-week accelerator. ZUoS’ pilot lead was selected to participate, alongside 9 of the other most-exciting scale-ups in the UK energy space.
Huntly Pilot trials
January 2020 - Ongoing
Pilot trials for the Power Forward Challenge have been ongoing from January 2020. Due to COVID-19, there was no specific start-date, with assets coming on line following installs - interrupted by periods of lockdown before further installs could be completed. The full trial has been live since May 2021.
Perth and Kinross
December 2019 - Ongoing
The ZUoS consortium was selected through a highly competitive innovation call for Phase 1 to develop and pitch its idea for delivering the Perth ‘Smart Energy Network’ for the Council - to drive down carbon, costs and increase the deployment of low-carbon technologies. ZUoS is one of two innovators invited to now demonstrate its concept through a project pilot - linked to one school and one Council building.
Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc
